DeLay: Not my fault someone else paid for it

From Think Progress:

Just in from CNN. Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) launches his latest “defense":

“I can’t - no Member can be responsible for going into the bowels of researching what this organization, how it gets its money or how it’s funded…What’s going on here is a concerted effort to twist and - to twist the truth to make it look seedy and it’s just not true.”

  • I hate to rain on the parade that is suppose to run
Delay out of town, but personally, I think that having DeLay in office is probably the best political scenario I can think for Democrats in the 2006 by year elections. The guy is a shopping list of legitemate issues and a political quagmire for Republicans.

  • I would agree with you on your sentiments, because it would force the Republicans that support DeLay unfailingly to defend that position on top of any other position that was naturally bad for the country.

However, I find it highly ironic that there were calls for Al Gore's impeachment and resignation from office for admittedly illegal fundraising, yet nary a peep when the same things are done by the Republicans.

  • One wonders where the media is on the top 8 trip takers on this list:

Maurice Hinchey has taken 27 trips financed by private groups costing $157,000.
