Tancredo joins Shays' Rebellion, on temporary basis

Tom Ferraro of Reuters has the story, from a statement issued by Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO):

"I believe that all of the charges against Tom DeLay I have seen to date lack merit," said Rep. Thomas Tancredo, a Colorado Republican, in a statement.

"However if the majority leader were to temporarily step aside so that these trumped up charges can be dealt with in a less hostile environment, as they have proven to be an unnecessary distraction, it may be a productive move," he said.

Very calculated.

  • Tancredo has since backed off even further. He's realized he was just adding fuel to a bic-lighter-sized fire. Here's an idea for y'all--why not try getting someone elected by telling the truth about YOUR candidates instead of telling lies about your opponents? Kerry couldn't run as a man of the people so you faked it (the image of him and Te-RAY-za eating at a Wendy's is priceless). Congrats on a feeble attempt to hack a good man and split a party that ain't splitting at all (Shays? Tancredo? Zat all you got?). The GOP is gonna CREAM you Rats in 2006 if this is your plan!

  • There's a political stench that surrounds DeLay and those with any political sense are checking to see if there is a back door exit. DeLay will have to do more than rely on his conservative base and rant about the Dems. He's fast running out of friends and supporters. To paraphrase..Live by the Hammer, Die by the Hammer.
