Blunt equals DeLay

Anyone thinking there would be a new era ushered into the Capitol building with the indicted Tom DeLay out and Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri in, is, well, sadly mistaken. From our DeLay Rankings:

Blunt is a mini-DeLay:

  • Voted with DeLay 96.25% of the time (2336 with, 91 against)
  • Received $1,019 from ARMPAC
  • Donated $20,000 to Tom DeLay Legal Expense Trust

Blunt ranked 24th of the 435 members of Congress, almost securing himself a spot in the top five percent,.

  • While these statistics are annoying, DeLay's power was not in his vote - in that he was equal to every other representative - but in his influence and the way he would twist people's arms to get them to vote his way. It's possible Rep. Blunt can replace him in that way, but I think he won't be as powerful or influential.

  • i thought the authors of this blog claimed it was nonpartisan. obviously that is not the case if they are serious about these blunt statistics. if all you guys care about is removing the presence of ethical improprieties from the house floor, than roy blunt could have voted with delay 100% of the time, and it wouldn't matter unless he was funnelling corporate $ through the rnc to missouri state races, in violation of state law
