More like "laundering"

AP does its work. Hats off to Sharon Theimer and John Solomon for this gem of investigative reporting, though the description below of a financial carousel makes it sound too innocent. It was laundering:

DeLay, Blunt Swapped Donations

WASHINGTON - Tom DeLay deliberately raised more money than he needed to throw parties at the 2000 presidential convention, then diverted some of the excess to longtime ally Roy Blunt through a series of donations that benefited both men's causes.

When the financial carousel stopped, DeLay's private charity, the consulting firm that employed DeLay's wife and the Missouri campaign of Blunt's son all ended up with money, according to campaign documents reviewed by The Associated Press.

You have to read it to believe it. They also put together a timeline, which makes sense as a guide to the piece, but not on its own. Read them together.

What do you think?

  • It just goes to show you the worst thing to happen to the United States, the republican party. Greedy, un-moral, racist, liars, on a whole an embarassment to the world. Most of them believe in a fairy tale by King James. Wow, I'm glad my brain works at a normal rate. Perhaps, I would die for Dr.Seuss so I guess we have something in common? We can go to meetings and burn sticks together. Anyway, this is typical republican politics. The democrats are more clever in not getting caught, therefore more intelligent. That "is" what I like about democrats. Okay, done rambling. Time to read about what the Nazi's, I mean Bush's gibberish on world politics.

  • Sing it to the Jury Delay.

All the blame games in the world, or hacking websites won't change you being guilty.

My advice: Plea guilty, and go to rehab prison or flat out bargain. Don't make them all take you down, its going to be a long fall.

  • Yea, if you think all republicans are liars and immoral, you clearly don't know the democratic party! Clearly Clinton is the biggest sleaze in recent history to grace the political stage.

  • To mokru,

Do you actually think he was the only President to have other sexual relationship's in office? Clearly President Clinton had done more for this country in a positive way then your current bible thumping, moron. Your whole party has done nothing but disgrace this country. I can't even list everything Bush's party has brought to us. Death, deficit, and is funding your war through the cutting of education, social security, cancer/aid's research. It goes on and on. If your upset because Clinton got extra nookie in the office then you have serious agenda issue's. Oh, don't throw the first stone. Have you ever cheated on a partner? Funny Clinton is picking up Bush's slack all across the world, and he isn't the President anymore. The difference is he cares about American's. No matter what religion, age, color, or class. Your President wants a pure white race. Seen that before once or twice. Enjoy your Sunday class. Perhaps Dr.Seuss will forgive you?

  • It is indeed funny how Clinton used an executive order to close mines in Utah naming the area a national park and the following week announced a trade deal with China to import coal which Clinton himself had ensured would have less American competition. Yes, Clinton is quite the Patriot. Throw in the campaign violations from Communist China and we have a very interesting picture of Clinton in office. Throw in his giving nuclear material to North Korea. Do you still want to insist that Clinton was a positive occurence for America?

  • That was by far the most un-researched statement I've heard in a long time. Let me guess, you get your "facts" from Fox? Everything you just said is completely false and taken out of context. Please go to a library or search on yahoo before you embarass yourself again. Oh, I have a nice picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Sadamm Hussein. That's really funy that you said, "campaign violations". Like not collecting votes in Florida or Ohio? Or how the voting machines that where proven to have been rigged where made by Diebold. Who are a financial supporter to the Bush party. Shocking!! Thanks for letting me put you in your place once again. 2 more day's until Sunday's meeting...

  • No, what's most pathetic is how the total morons who continue to support DeLay and the Connecticut Cokehead constantly bring up Clinton. THE MAN HAS BEEN OUT OF OFFICE FOR FIVE FU¢KING YEARS! You game of "I know you are, but what am I" is childishly simple and pathetic. There is a pattern and a long history related to DeLay's (lack of) ethics, and the Connecticut Cokehead's lies. So quit the bit¢hing, Mokru. You morons... well... ARE GETTING WHAT YOU *PAID* FOR.
