Full speed ahead

DeLay lawyer Dick DeGuerin told the Houston Chronicle that he and his client want the trial to get underway as soon as possible.

"We've got to go forward — get to trial as soon as possible," DeGuerin said. "Tom DeLay has a primary in March. He has a leadership position. And in politics, nature abhors a vacuum."

The lawyer's goal is to have the charges dismissed or get an acquittal before Congressional Republicans can elect a new leader when Congress returns from winter recess in January.

DeLay has been allowed to continue participating in some leadership meetings, but seems to be losing some support among fellow Republicans - but only those who don't fear retribution if he returns to power.

"Working in DeLay's favor is the fact that his fellow Republicans know that he could be exonerated and reward those who supported him, Austin lobbyist Bill Miller said. If DeLay 'succeeds in beating these charges, there will be a reckoning for people on the Republican side, especially for those who did not step up and help him,' Miller said."

  • Ah, the hard, cold reality: Republican polititians are key to the political downfall of DeLay.

Somehow, we must be able/willing to embrace any Republican who's shown bi-partisan tendencies, who may be tired of DeLay's tactics.

I can't stand the taste of that, but it's necessary. All the meek, humble, downtrodden within his own party are his biggest threat, because therein lies his biggest weakness.

It's a weakness to be exploited, folks.

  • Well too bad, Delay you and the scumbags are not going to get any "speedy" trial. And they aren't even going to have a hearing for your case until November 22.

Just face it, asshole... You need to resign rather than drag yourself through the mud until they throw you in prison. Its the only "right" thing to do...

But god knows you WON'T do the right thing, ever. And further you've brought this on yourself by claiming to buy judges.......every single judge who even would be able to hear the case; already has their OWN conflict of interest related to TRMPAC and donations......Fancy how bitter sweet the taste of Karma is, aye?
