McCain Rails Against FEC & Earmarking

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) says lobbying reform won't cure what ails Washington, as reported here in the Washington Times. McCain points his finger at a "corrupt" Federal Elections Commission and at the congressional practice of "earmarking" pork projects in federal legislation.

  • Was it not McCain that wanted Finance reform before the last election? He capituated to Bush and Company and we now have the most corrupt Government Makes me wonder if His emails and Phones were tapped and they found something on him. I think he has good ideas but never follows through on them.

  • If you've followed those situations much, you would have realized the problem isn't McCain. Without support from others within his -majority- party, nothing of substance can happen. His drumbeat all along has been to raise awareness in the country, so voters will pressure their representatives.

Well, guess what? Republican voters don't care, as long as they think their party is benefitting. Now that it's turned into a scandal, the voters want their party's image restored.

Think of it this way, in spite of the best efforts of any decent, honest politicians, the system is broken, and voters rewarded Bush for stealing the first election - by voting him in the second time.

What more can someone like McCain to do?
