I am really not happy to see our representative, Anne Northup, on the list. I have always thought of her as an honest person, who does the best she can for our (conservative) state. So, she was the lone Kentucky Republican I chose to support. I really hope she will give back any money that is associated with Delay and his ilk, and stop defending him. Kentucky does not need to be seen as associated with corruption.

I contacted Rep. Dave Weldon's office (R-Fla) and was told that they have been told by representatives of the Ethics Committee that they are not allowed to discuss campaign finance matters at the taxpayers' expense, and since she (the woman answering the phone) is paid by the taxpayers, she could not even take my message. She gave me the address of Dr. Weldon's campaign finance office - "Friends of Dave Weldon" - but would not give out the phone number because "the office is not staffed during normal business hours." Huh?? I guess that's appropriate - if I ran a campaign with tainted money I sure wouldn't want the light of day to shine on me either! Nor would I want to be available for comment.

Here's the letter I wrote tonight to THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE about my own Congressman, John Culberson. I had already called Culberson's Houston and Washington offices.

The Editors,

After learning of Mr. DeLay's second indictment, I called the office of my own Congressman, John Culberson. I had read that Rep. Culberson had received $5000 from Mr. DeLay. But the secretary in Mr. Culberson's Washington office said she was not allowed to comment on the matter. Next I called John Culberson's Houston office, where a staff member was honest enough to admit that indeed Mr. Culberson received $5000 from Mr. DeLay. Given the recent indictments, I asked if Rep. Culberson would now return the money. Well, you can imagine the response I received. And it's sad because this goes to the heart of the ongoing congressional ethics problem.

It's shameful that Rep. Culberson cannot make a public statement on Mr. DeLay's problems, his own relationship with Mr. DeLay, or about being a personal recipient of what may well be tainted cash. Until Mr. Culberson shows some responsibility, what are his constituents supposed to think?

I have to agree 100% with "BettyBoop108" ... the mom, grandmom, wife, retired government worker, and also a grandmom who raised a grandson and sat on those same sidelines watching grandson in baseball and soccer. I finally got off MY duff and got involved in politics as well.
Seems OUR representative, # TWO on this list, is going to run for governor of Colorado. I am going to do my best to get others involved so that they are not fooled by HIS lies and nastiness. He is not a nice man at all. Nor is he a great politician. If he likes to lie down with DeLay, he can stay down in the mud with him....just stop dragging the rest of this fine state down with you, Mr. Beauprez.

I too watch CSpan daily...pass up my soaps to watch it now...this representative claims he is for saving social security and helping seniors, yet he is totally against the bills I am helping to work on getting repealed. PLUS, he loves Bush's Social Security Privatization ...

How can I verify the info on this rankings page? My rep is Mike Rogers and I work hard to get him out of there. However, a reporter asked me to verify that Rogers gave $5000 to the DeLay Legal Defense Fund, and I cannot. In fact, I found a good site that lists all the contributions,

Hate to sound like Mary Poppins, but my representatives here in California are great progressive legislators: Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein and Mike Thompson are good people. However, trying to get "specific" information is very often like pulling teeth. I've found it's better to check their website and if I don't find what I'm looking for, I say exactly what I do and do not think is OK and then ask for a response.

If I weren't an avid CSPAN house/senate watcher and letter writer, and if I hadn't seen all these truly radical creeps with all their posturing, manipulative, deceptive and sleezy behavior with my own eyes, I'd be tempted to think no politician could be that bad. But they are--especially Cornyn and Kyle. It gives me hope to see people are paying attention and getting fed up!

While I don't particularly like it, we are all living in this shining new global world, so I try to think and act both globally and locally by writing to both sides of the aisle. I write to Kennedy and get good feedback; my own reps of course and Reid; and, Lugar, Specter, Snowe, Chafee, Hagel, (possible swing votes) and Frist, Allard, Allen, Graham, Hatch, Sessions, Cornyn, Kyle, and other truly radical nasties on things like DeLay and the filibuster. They need to know that the world at large is watching them and doesn't buy their double-speak. I expect any day now they'll try to pass legislation to ban CSPAN.

About Weller in IL, how DOES he get away with this? He needs some public light to air out his dirty laundry; I'm sure he's not shy about digging up dirt on his opponents. How did DeLay get away with it for SO long? Public apathy--in the beginning? Then he built a money-influence machine that just couldn't be stopped? We saw what he did to anyone who tried to buck him in the House. Why doesn't the public cry foul about the lobbyist money that's thrown around in all directions, not just to Tom DeLay? By the way, Jessee Jackson, speaking at the Campaign to Take Back America, said that the HOUSE is where it's at--the real power--I think he's right.

I'm tryng to get a group together to do media watch and response from different regions of the country. Action E-lerts are indispensable but well-timed individual and personalized emails or letters also make a big impact.

They've all got to go--let's all keep on writing and rallying and get them ALL out!

Our State has the lowest SAT scores in the nation, yet my Congressman,Dr.Gingrey with his little beady-eyes and smug constipated look on his face, supports Delay and takes money from this fake, "God Fearing" man. ALL Congressman, Senators, Administration should be held accountable for their actions, and should be judged for who they are and who they support. Wish someone would look under a log and clarify further wether my congressman, Todd Aken, actualy functions as a representative or merely a tool of right wing conservative operatives. He hardly receives any press back home unless he's at some fundraiser for these aforementioned folks. Can anyone name any original piece of legislation that this dud has ever directly passed? This gentleman seems to be so impressed with his efforts to blend into the far right lunatic wing of his party that he appears to feel that he does't need to respond directly and publicly to critisim. Mr Akin seems to give and get all kinds of money that no one in our district owns up to giving or getting. I think that most of us folks in the district would love to see how much of his war chest comes from out of state corporations,PACs and other "conservative" interest groups he supports or votes for as our congressman. If anyone thinks DeLay is bad we should start looking at this guy even if, for now, he doesn't show signs of being a standard bearer/ leader.

We live in one of the key districts in Texas that he won by the illegal gerrymandering of Delay; this caused the entire Democratic contigent in Dallas to flee to Ardmore, OK.
Max Sandlin, the former incumbent is supposedly challenging this in court.
Gohmert rates a 97.64% (apprx.). He got the max amount, too, for his extremely ugly campaign. Y'all need to be really focussing on Slick Louie, 'cause he's real ambtitious.

I wrote to Rep. Simmons about renouncing Tom Delay and asked him to request Delay's resignation. This is a copy of the text of his letter. I told him that failure to do these things would impact on his bid for re-election.

Dear Gerald:

Knowing your interest in the ethics controversy surrounding House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, I wanted to update you on a new development.

You will be happy to know that on April 27 the House of Representatives voted 406 to 20 to reverse three controversial ethics rules adopted in January. I was proud to join the entire Connecticut delegation in voting for the reversal of these rule changes.

I always opposed January’s changes to the House ethics rules, and my recent vote to repeal those three controversial rules is based upon my strong belief that the ethics rules which the House operated under last Congress have served the legislative body adequately and fairly.

In the weeks leading up to the vote, I urged leaders of both political parties to put aside their partisan differences and come to an agreement to end the ethics impasse. I expect that the vote to reverse the rule changes should finally enable the House Ethics Committee to begin its investigation of allegations of ethical misconduct of Mr. DeLay and other members of Congress. These investigations are long overdue.

In my state, we have the most awesome Congressman named Raul Grijalva. We also have a complete piece of shit Christo-Nazi corporate whore senator named Jon Kyl. You would have to see the contrast between Kyl and Grijalva to believe it. It's like comparing a saint to a demon. My representative Jim Kolbe is horrible, although not nearly as rotten to the core as Jon Kyl. I wish I could brag that Grijalva is representing me, but at least he's representing the state. I can't tell you how many Latinos and local bred Tucsonans love him. Ten to one odds say that Jon Kyl is on his knees sucking on Tom "the devil's rhino fucker" Delay's little pee pee. I guess that's all I have to say.
