I got the same boilerplate from KHOU. In my response I pointed out that the segment they aired gave the mistaken impression that Delay hd some basis for threatening legal action over the Russian money allegations.

I replied, with links to the Washington Post and factcheck.org articles that substantiate the claims and deflate Delay's lawyer's ridiculous assertion that they were "just made up".

No answer yet and I don't expect one.

I recieved only one comment back so far and that was an automated reply from KHOU with a link to their story which specifically points out they won't run the ad because of the $1,000,000.00 supposedly given by Russians to influence his vote; citing the possible lawsuit from DeLay's attorney. It's becoming clear they have their own agenda... does anyone know who OWNS KHOU? That would tell you IMMEDIATELY whether or not it will EVER run -regardless of content.

If the stations are not demonstrating proper balance of varying viewpoints, their licenses can be challenged and they have to account for discrepancies.

Their licenses can be challenged anyway, but stations haven't been required to demonstrate "balance of varying viewpoints" since the mid-80's. Reagan's FCC axed the Fairness Doctrine back then.

Don't forget that TV station licenses are from the FCC. If the stations are not demonstrating proper balance of varying viewpoints, their licenses can be challenged and they have to account for discrepancies.
My suggestion is to call these stations and demand they place paid advertising in accordance with equal-time rules. Then ask when their FCC license is up for renewal. Then file a complaint with the FCC.
Maybe even get vocal with the Houston chapter of the BBB and industry trade journals.

I called the first two stations on your telephone list and got through to a machine on the second and left a message. I got through to a person on the first listed station(?) and the speaker said he wasn't going to put the anti-DeLay ad on again and that he wasn't going to discuss it with me. I said the ad was truthful and asked why he didn't like the truth! Bill the Atist
